Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry, Taipei (郭元益糕餅博物館)

Staying here for 2 hours, you can make cookies, and learn some Chinese traditions and customs as well.

Kuo Yuan Ye is a well-known pastry store in Taiwan and, what's more, it has its own museums of cake and pastry. My kid loves baking cookies at Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry, so let's start with the baking.

The pastry chef prepared all the ingredients in advance, which made the process much more easier.

Under the guidance of the pastry chef, we could do it step by step. We enjoyed the whole process, such as stirring and mixing, except creaming. It was a labouring job to cream butter and sugar. We beat and beat and beat until the mixture turned white. Oh, please hand me an electric mixer.

Squeezing the final mixture out was much easier than creaming.

All the cookies were spread out on the baking tray, and ready to be baked.

While baking, we had some snacks with traditional Chinese music as the background.

After that, we went to another floor. This room displays items about traditional wedding, ancestor worship, new year food, etc.

The friendly museum docent gave us a short tour. Although I knew some of the traditions already, I still thought it was interesting.

We were very excited when the cookies were ready. Who weren't, especially when the cookies were packed by yourself?

We enjoyed this short but cheerful trip!
